Synopsis: When reality TV maverick, Mara Bolt, meets Kristy Shaw, Mara is certain she’s found the star of her newest reality TV series, The Shot. Kristy is languishing away in her small hometown, pining for her first love, Max Irving.

The Shot offers Kristy Total Body Transformation – extreme plastic surgery to render her unrecognisable – as a way to embed her into Max’s life and recapture his affections under a new identity: Imogen Byrne. But there’s a catch: if she doesn’t secure Max’s heart in thirty days, she must have her surgeries reversed, and go back to her old life.

As cameras start rolling, Mara and Kristy both get the sense that there is something happening behind the scenes…something between the two of them that threatens to reveal old wounds and new secrets that neither of them wants to reckon with. If Mara is going to keep the show on track, she must contain the truths and desires that lie just beneath the surface.

How To Age Against The Machine

Authors: Melissa Doyle & Naima Brown

Publisher: Hardie Grant | Media queries please contact Kristie Grant

Synopsis: How to Age Against the Machine is a joyous, information-packed, empowering ride through ageing for women, in all its complexity and diversity.
Based on the hit Audible podcast from Melissa Doyle and Naima Brown, Age Against the Machine, the book will bring breadth and depth to the topic of ageing for women, inviting readers to tap into and celebrate their value and relevance in the second part of their lives.

In Naima’s words – ‘The experience of creating the podcast only opened our eyes to what a rich, complex, and vast world women and ageing is. And we also really wanted to present the nuts-and-bolts information we need for ageing well – from nutrition to exercise, hormones to sleep, and more – in a book, so you can come back to it over and over whenever you need it.’

Mel says, ‘The creation of Age Against the Machine came from such an honest place … experiences we and our girlfriends were having, the challenges that frightened us and the revelations worth celebrating. And we only just scratched the surface, there is so much more to talk about and share!
‘There are so many aspects to ageing that we simply don’t talk about enough, either through embarrassment, shame, or fear. We hope this makes our readers feel heard, understood and empowered.’

The book will tackle everything from relationships to work, money, appearance, sex, and menopause, and will feature everyday women’s voices alongside those of the authors and high-profile women such as Tina Arena, Rachel Griffiths, Marcia Hines, Paulina Porizkova and Claudia Roden, among others.

Mel and Naima felt a profound sense of responsibility to create a book that they know their own sisters, friends and family members will use in their lives. Age Against the Machine will unpack our notions of what it means to age in our culture, but it will provide practical inspiration for women to age with meaning and purpose in the second half of their lives.
